Do You Miss Swapping Discs? – Game Scoop!
One Scoop! fan misses the feeling of accomplishment he got when switching discs in older games. This conversation originally appeared in Game Scoop! Episode 301.

What is a disk?
That sounds like some outdated form of technology…

Nope my Steam account contains 800 games, and they will work for the rest
of my life. I haven’t used discs in years.

Shit I guess I’m the only person left who still prefers a physical copy and

BroKenGaMezHD

Vycrance

If games go completely digital we won’t be able to flip old games we don’t
want anymore..

What? No, this is stupid.
Switching discs is no big deal, but it is a small annoyance that I’m happy
to be done with for now.

I prefer physical copies of media over digital, it gives me a sense of
ownership. People won’t have shelves of collections, which will be sad
because they were sometimes astonishing. I likes to skim through what games
i wanted to play before finding the right one. That type of feeling isn’t
present in digital gaming.

Ah the good old days of the Commodore Amiga when games like Monkey Island 2
and Indiana Jones were on 11 disks and without a hard drive, disk swapping
was mandatory and every few seconds. I wonder if that’s why I’m use to long
loading times due to disk swapping that many times.

Net neutrality is going to shit and free internet is on the verge of dying
do to comcast but they have the idea of just taking about this?? Yeah
that’s keeping the mindset of the gamer who’s worried about getting their
multiplayer stripped to data limits for Internet use, but instead your
talking about this, huh…

I don’t miss it, but I do miss the fact that it was a good judge of where
abouts you were in a game lol. I remember all the old PS1 FF games had 3-4
discs and then FFX came out and while I was playing it for the first time,
I was like… am I halfway?… am I near the end?…the suspense lol.
Nowadays the suspense is normal lol

He got a sense of « accomplishment » for switching a fucking disk?
ReachieX

IGN you’ve already released this broadcast like two weeks ago
what is the point of cutting parts from your broadcast when most people
already saw it.

I dont miss changing discs, i actually hated it… But i think changing
discs to have a longer game was way better than todays 5 hour
« rollercoaster » rides. I hate how we basically get less for our money in
gaming these days.
